So, you’ve been successful losing weight on HCG, but you keep hearing about troubles maintaining the lost weight from others on the program. So…how do you keep the weight off?

Over the past year, I have had a large number of friends, associates, and clients who have lost weight on the HCG diet. Unfortunately for most, they gained all or most of the weight back. Many of them even added a few additional pounds. On top of this, studies have shown that individuals that try to do the HCG diet a second and third time are not getting even close to the same results as the first. It’s a discouraging reality.

I heard one lady say that if she could lose 30 pounds for one month, even if the weight came back on, she would be happy. Her comment just boggled my mind.

Whenever I run into someone who has done the HCG diet, the first thing I ask is “What are you doing to keep the weight off”. The common response is a blank stare, or a “What do you mean?” I then tell them that most people at least put all the weight they lost right back on.

So, why is this problem happening with HCG users?

1.       90% of the overweight population could lose weight on a 500 calorie a day diet. Unfortunately, that means most people are in starvation mode on 500 calories a day for any length of time.

2.       Because HCG does not require exercise, some of the lost weight is muscle mass and not fat.

3.       HCG dieters believe that they do not have to change their lifestyle or mindset for lasting weight loss.

4.       Your body enters what is called a “famine response state” if you starve yourself for so long. This means the moment you increase your calories again, your body will store absolutely everything it can as fat.

Look at these recent warnings:

a.       In 2009, the American Society of Bariatric Physicians issued a position statement which stated: Numerous clinical trials have shown HCG to be ineffectual in producing weight loss. HCG injections can induce a slight increase in muscle mass in androgen-deficient males. The diet used in the Simeons method provides a lower protein intake than is advisable in view of current knowledge and practice. There are few medical literature reports favorable to the Simeons method; the overwhelming majority of medical reports are critical of it. Physicians employing either the HCG or the diet recommended by Simeons may expose themselves to criticism from other physicians, from insurers, or from government bodies.

b.        Since 1975, the FDA has required labeling and advertising of HCG to state:

i.      HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction. Additionally, there is no evidence that it causes a more attractive or "normal" distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.

Maximising the efficacy of your HCG diet

If you’ve been on the HCG diet or are on it, there are ways to improve your weight loss and create the healthy, lasting results. Using exante products can be effective for someone who reaches their weight loss goal on HCG because the first 2 months require a mindset and determination for a lifestyle change. exante promotes healthy Brain Training and follows up the nutrition aspect with a hunger-blocking meal replacement shake. The combination of the 2 has shown to keep the weight off. For those that are scared of HCG diets, exante can provided an alternative weight loss option that sheds 1-3 pounds per week. Over the course of 90 days the weight loss on the exante program will stay off.

We’ve said it all along that the key to maintaining your weight loss is training your body and mind for your new healthy lifestyle. Starving yourself to lose weight might have powerful effects on your body, but it comes with strong negative thoughts. You’re telling yourself the only way you can be skinny is by never eating when that’s just not the case!
